Barna Sports Park's History

In 1976 Comharchumann Bearna Teo or Barna Co-Op was formed after five local men put up the purchase money for two acres at Troscai Thiar to be used for community purposes. Those men were:

Jimmy Cunningham, Liam Geraghty, Tommy Kavanagh, Bosco McDermott, Gearoid Mac Eoin.

The community is thankful to these founding members of Barna Co-Op for having the vision and foresight to purchase these lands for the community and so many people and children benefit from this fantastic space over the years and today. Barna Sports Park brings joys to all members of our community every day as people enjoy the great outdoors in this beautiful, sheltered setting.
